Mid Ulster travelled to Belfast on Wednesday past to take on Newbridge Predators in the Davisons Fruddles Premier League.  The Mid Ulster girls welcomed the return of Mykylea Stewart and Adele Gillespe however they were missing Michelle Scott through injury.  Mid Ulster started the game well dominating the midfield with Stacey Lee and Colleen McCullagh making great inroads up and down the left wing.  With Ruth Brown holding things in midfield and Hayley O’Donnell pushing on it was no surprise when Mid Ulster took the lead.  Another great run by Stacey Lee down the left side resulted in a cross which Chloe Barnes took in her stride to open the scoring from close range.  Mid Ulster tails were up and they continued to push on and Hayley O’Donnell was unlucky with a strike from the edge of the box.  However as the half wore on Predators started to settle down and get more into the game.  The Mid Ulster defence had to be on their toes as the home team used their experience to exert pressure on the Mid Ulster goal.  Claire Brown and Karen Donnell were holding out strongly but they could do nothing about the shot on 23 minutes that crept in at the right hand post.  Mid Ulster disappointed to have conceded tried to push on yet again but the rest of the half was played without really testing either keeper.  Just before the break Mid Ulster nearly seized the initiative when Simone Magill hit the cross bar. The second half saw no changes from either team and both teams were pushing hard to gain an advantage.  Mid Ulster tested the Predators keeper on a number of occasions but she pulled off a number of good saves.  The woodwork again denied Simone Magill after 20minutes when her free kick from 25 yards struck the bar.  The breakthrough eventually came for the visitors when good work down the right from Simone Magill saw the ball pulled back for Adele Gillespe to apply a clinical finish. The last 20 minutes saw the home team push for an equaliser but the Mid Ulster girls were resolute and indeed did generate a few chances of their own on the break.  As the clock ticked down Mid Ulster began to sit a little deeper and with the referee playing 6 minutes of added time it was relieving for the visiting support when the final whistle actually sounded.
