Juniors shine at Carrick tournament

The Juniors enjoyed a great day out on Sunday 18 June at the Carrick tournament.  Originally the plan was to enter a 7 aside under 14 team but it ended up being 2 five aside teams one at Under 14 and one at U12.  Both age groups played Linfield, Glentoran, and Crusaders (easy opponents then!!)  The 14s registered a draw against Linfield a win against Glentoran and where narrowly beaten 1-0 by the tournament winners Crusaders.  Lyn Sommerville scored the two goals for Mid Ulster and she was ably assisted by Jacqueline Burns, Jessica (Jess) McGurk, Emma McFarland and Jessica (JLS) Stewart.  In the Under 12 age group the club entered a team with 3 debutants featuring.  Jessica Crooks was the most experienced member with Rachel Rodgers in her first season with Mid Ulster showed great potential.  Angela and Caitlin Mwawa who had only met the rest of the girls the day before played superbly and got great face painting done after the tourament to celebrate.  Another new face Erin Mulholland was outstanding and she managed to score her first goal for the glub as well.  After the games the girls watched the senior plate and cup finals with a brief interlude for a trip to McDonalds.  A good day was had by all even though our hearing is severly impaired after the appearance of the Burns family Vuvuzela. Next up is the N.Ireland v Serbia game on Saturday when our girls provide the half time entertainment in between cheering on our own Simone Magill.  Anyone wishing to attend should contact Clare or Elaine for further details.
