Mid Ulster suffer cup defeat

The Mid Ulster girls travelled to Mallusk on Monday night to take on Cliftonville in the league cup.  With a couple of absentees the team was slightly changed from the Ballymena game.  The first half was a reasonably even affair with Cliftonville edging it by scoring the only goal of the half.  Mid Ulster had their share of possession but they didnt really test the Cliftonville keeper.  An injury to Racheal Stewart saw Ma come on for the second half but this didnt improve things for the visitors as Cliftonville doubled their lead early in the half.  Mid Ulster were struggling to get a hold in the game and further substitutions saw Jessica McGurk replace Jill Overend and Kellie Ballentine replace Stacey Lee.  Cliftonville wrapped up the victory with a third goal and the Mid Ulster girls will have been disappointed with this performance.  Perhaps it was a bit of a hangover from the sucess of the previous week.  One of the highlights of the night was the performance of Jessica McGurk who at 14 made her first competitive senior appearance for the club.  Well done Jess!!
