Sunnies ‘Senior’ Moment

My senior experience! At the start of the women's world cup qualifiers campaign I was sat in the stands watching and I never thought that two months later I would be training with them let alone being in the squad for games!

My first trip was away to estonia! For me this was incredible as I got to travel and train with so many experienced players I then travelled to iceland with them shortly after that! My first home game with the squad was serbia and the match was at colraine showgrounds I got on in the game and I was so proud coming on knowing all the mid ulster crew and my family and friends were there supporting me! Next up was another home game to estonia this game was 'payback' I got on at half time and for me it was a great experience as we won 3-0 and we got our payback! Our next stop was to serbia in the 'melting heat' this was by far the warmest heat I have ever played in 32 degree heat! I was honoured when I got the news I had made the starting line up as I was 15years of age and getting to start for NI senior women's team- this was by far the proudest achievement to date! Are last game of the campaign was at home to croatia this was a BIG game as if we won we would come third and so we did! We won 3-1 again I was honoured as I made the starting line up! And who would have thought that wee norn iron would have came third place! This campaign has been the greatest experience of my life up until this point! I have seen a lot of countries and gained a lot of experience! I would just like to thank everyone associated with mid ulster ladies as they have backed me from the start and have been to every home game cheering me on! And I would love to thank all the girls in the squad for making my first senior campaign so memorable! -simone 🙂
