2010 Dinner

Mid Ulster Ladies celebrated the 2010 season at the recent Dinner and Awards ceremony in the Royal Hotel Cookstown.  A crowd of about 50 players, coaches, parents and supporters enjoyed their dinner followed by speeches and presentations compered by club chairperson Elaine Junk.  The guest speaker for the evening was N. Ireland Senior Ladies Captain Ashley Hutton who is a superb role model for all the younger members in the club.  Elaine Junk kicked off proceedings thanking all the club sponsers for the year.  The Railway Bar,  Herrons Country Fried Chicken and all the Calendar and Match Sponsors were acknowledged as was the sterling work by by Glen Junk and Damien O'Donnell in acquiring the sponsorship.  Elaine gave an overview of the season recounting the highlight on the field being the epic victory against Ballymena in Ballymena by a scoreline of 4-3 having come from 3-0 down.  The adventure day trip had produced a few stories most of which were recounted when it came to the presentation of the Junkies joker award.

Ma (Clare C) followed this with a round up of the Juniors season with all the various madness that normally goes along with the junior escapades.  All the girls got their commemorative medals and then the main prizes were awarded.  Most improved player went to Jessica Stewart or JLS as she is known.  Player of the year went to Emma McFarland and Club Person went to Jacqueline Burns.

Senior Award Winners

With the Juniors sorted the floor was over to Ashley Hutton who congratulated the club on its operation.  Ashley gave some good advice to the juniors when she advised them that their studies must also be high on the agenda.  Ashley spoke of the importance of the support of the parents and all the members of the club.  She drew attention to the unique family atmosphere within the club and commended the girls to keep up the good work. This was followed by the senior awards and Most improved player went to Colleen McCullagh with Simone Magill winning Players Player. Noel Mitchell was next on the mike and he thanked all the players for their commitment throughout the year.  He thanked the committee especially Elaine and Clare for all the work within the club.  Noel presented Managers player of the year to Simone Magill and Club Person of the Year went to Karen Donnell. A number of other presentations and gifts were handed out and then the disco began.  First up where the Sphice Girls so it was ear plugs all round.  Much dancing and carry on continued until the wee hours when evenutally everyone dispersed to recover from the merriment... unitl next year!
