A number of Mid Ulster Ladies players, friends and supporters travelled to the Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle on Saturday 20 November for the first ever NIWFA League Presentation ceremony.  Everyone had their finery on, (Ma even wore a dress) and it was a very glamourous occasion in a beautiful setting.  Mid Ulster had high hopes of taking home an award with both Hayley and Simone nominated for player of the year in the Premier League.  A scrumptious dinner was followed by speeches from Patrick Nelson (Chief Executive of the IFA) and the guest of honour England International and Sky Sports Pundit Sue Smith.  Elaine did her usual professional job of chairing the whole event and she even had Phil the Greek under control.  After the formal speeches an open floor resulted in a few words from a number of IFA council representatives and Senior International Coach Alfie Wylie.  Cheryl Lamont from Glentoran BU echoed everyones thoughts as she congratulated the committee on the event and on their achievements throughout the year.  A standing ovation for Elaine and her committee was instigated by the Predator delegation and thoroughly supported by all.  Presentations followed and eventually it came to the pinnacle of the night.  Premier League player of the year.  The announcement of Simone Magill as winner was no real surprise to the Mid Ulster crew and it was a fitting tribute to Simones contribution throughout the year.  A very sensible (and short) acceptance speech followed and then it was down to the serious business of getting photos with Sue Smith.

Hayley, Simone and Lisa being the concientious atheletes that they are departed the event shortly after as they had a friendly match the next morning.   They might have been better staying at the party!!  Ma also had a serious match to attend on Sunday so her and Da landed home in Donaghmore about 2am and then she went to a 60 birthday party and wasnt home to 4.30am.  Mind you Mas team actually won a few games the next day.

Mid Ulster girlies in their glad rags

So a great night was had by all and congratulations to Elaine and the rest of the NIWFA committee and heres looking forward to next year.
