Juniors start with a win

The Mid Ulster Juniors got their league campaign up and running on Saturday at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena.  With a few new faces to add to the seasoned campaigners it was a strong squad that took to the pitch against Moneyslane.  The girls got off to a great start with Samantha Kelly showing good skill to play the ball to Eimear McGarrity who fed Lyn Sommerville to open the scoring.

The Mid Ulster girls continued to pressurise and after great determination the same 3 players combined again with Samantha Kelly applying the final touch on this occasion.  As usual Emma McFarland was her normal reliable self in defence and with Rachel Rodger stepping in as her defensive partner the girls were proving hard to break down.  Erin Mullholland and Rachel Kelly were working hard in the middle of the park and Jessica Magee was making little of the fact that she was playing against players 5 years her senior.  Mollie Young and Anna Donnelly showed what great assets they are going to be for the Mid Ulster crew and Amy McFarland picked up where she had left off last season with a determined display. The 2nd half started with Samantha Kelly again showing great control to bring down the ball and tuck it home for Mid Ulster.   Moments later Moneyslane pulled a goal back and it was a good effort to beat Jacqueline Burns in the Mid Ulster goal.  The Mid Ulster girls replied immediately with Lynn Sommerville scoring her 2nd goal of the game and the game finished 4-1 to the Mid Ulster girls. Unsurprisingly Player of the match went to Samantha Kelly.
