Mid Ulster Juniors had a super end to Junior League on Saturday when they entertained the crowds at the Sports Arena to finish runners up in the Under 14 Dale Farm League.  The first game of the day saw the girls take on League Leaders Cappagh Spurs.  The first meeting of the two had finished in a draw and the Mid Ulster girls knew they had to win the game if they were to have any chance of claiming the league title.  Mid Ulster were missing captain Emma McFarland and Anna Donnelly but luckily the club had strength in depth and still were able to field a strong side.  With a large crowd watching the game kicked off with no team giving any quarter.  Whilst Cappagh were the physically stronger side the Mid Ulster girls were more than matching them in tenacity and skill.  Rachel Rodgers and Erin Mullholland were kept busy in the back line whilst Lyn Sommerville tried to keep Cappaghs star player Chloe McGlade under wraps.  Samantha & Rachel Kelly were battling in midfield whilst Jessica Stewart tried to create an opening up front.    The game was end to end with neither team giving an inch but there eventually the breakthrough came with Cappagh scoring through Chloe McGlade .  Not even great goalkeeping by Jacqueline Burns  stop  Cappagh Spurs scoring  further goal leaving the Mid Ulster girls with a mountain to climb in the second half.   Even the introduction of Mollie Young and Eimear McGarrity couldn’t find a break through.   The Cappagh girls capitalised on their physical advantage to score a further goal and wrap up the game and the league title.  Undeterred by this disappointment the Mid Ulster crew gathered themselves to take on Fermanagh Mallards in the second game of the day.  With Amy McFarland and Jessica Magee coming in for this game Mid Ulster went about their task.  An early Fermanagh strike was against the run of play and knocked back the Mid Ulster girls but they came out again fighting.  Rachel Rodgers took the game by the scruff of the neck and on a great run out from the back she beat two players before unleashing a super shot to draw the teams level.  With time running out the Mid Ulster girls pushed for a winner and in the final minute of the game they got what they deserved.  A corner driven in by Lyn Sommerville was met on expertly on the volley by Jessica Magee to wrap up the game and runners up place in the league.
