Under 15s fall to Strikers

The Mid Ulster girls hosted the Under 15 league leaders Crusaders Newtownabbey Strikers on Sunday 6 November at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena.  The Mid Ulster girls were left in no doubt to the ability of their opponents when 55 seconds after the kick off the visitors scored with the first attack of the game.  This might have knocked the stuffing out of some teams but not the Mid Ulster girls who picked themselves up and got on with a very high quality game.  Both teams were playing great entertaining football with the action end to end for the large crowd that had gathered to watch the game.  Strikers went on to score a second goal and they did miss a penalty but it certainly wasnt a runaway performance and Mid Ulster even had the ball in the net only for it to be ruled narrowly offside.  The half finished with Strikers holding a 2-0 lead. The second half started with Mid Ulster bettering the Strikers first half achievement when Samantha Kelly was on target after 52 seconds!! (Timing courtesy of Junkie).  From the kick off the Kelly sisters showed great combination play:  Samantha to Rachel whose penetrating run and pinpoint pass picked out Samantha who placed the ball in the bottom corner to bring the Mid Ulster girls back into the game.    More pressure from Mid Ulster saw Anna Donnelly and Mollie Young terrorising the Strikers back line but they just couldnt get a breakthrough.  As the Mid Ulster girls pushed on the Strikers showed their class once again taking three more goals and putting a bit of a shine on the score. The result didnt reflect the level of performance from the Mid Ulster girls which was superb.  Bring on Lisburn next Saturday!! Team: J Burns, E McFarland, E Mullholland, A Lavery, E Lavery, L Sommerville, R Rodgers, R Kelly, S Kelly, J Stewart, A Donnelly, M Young.
