Saturday saw the final day of the NIWFA Concentrix Junior league.  In the Mid Ulster section the Mid Ulster U13s aimed to maintain their unbeaten record against a very strong Armagh team. Earlier in the day the U11 girls had played a very entertaining game against Foyle Ladies and a number of the younger U13s had already participated in this game too.  In fact Lilie Crooks had even been awarded player of match in this game.

The U13s game kicked off in hot conditions and with the game being 3 periods of 15minutes you would think the girls might have been trying to conserve some energy.  This was not to be the case and both teams started the game at break neck speed.  Armagh raced into an early lead but overall the game was pretty even and it was no surprise when Mid Ulster scored shortly after.  A great individual run and shot from Casey Howe bringing the game level.  Mid Ulster started to dominate possession with some great passing and movement from the tireless midfield trio of Jessica Magee, Eimear McGarrity and Casey Howe.  Their persistance and work rate saw a great ball slipped through to striker Lilie Crooks who made no mistake to leave the Mid Ulster girls 2-1 up at the first break. Armagh started the second period brightly and pulled the game level shortly after the restart.  The Mid Ulster girls were not fazed and continued the great football and it was no surprise when Olivia Donnelly calmly struck a great shot to put the Mid Ulster girls back in front.  Armagh were still a threat and Megan Ferson had to be on her toes on a number of occasions to keep the scoreline as it was.  She was ably assisted by some resolute defensive work from Kirsten Henry and Sophie Magee and once again the midfielders were also working back as cover when Armagh where on the attack.  Eimear McGarritys hard work was duly rewarded with a goal as the Mid Ulster girls pressed and this was closely followed by a second Casey Howe goal to leave the girls 5-2 up with only 15 minutes remaining. Both teams were feeling the heat and the effects of the hectic pace but they were giving it everything for a tight final period.  Mid Ulster started the better with Casey Howe grabbing her hat trick and Jessica Magee hitting the bar but Armagh didnt give up and they were still a threat on the break.  In the final attack of the game Mid Ulster won a corner and as Kirsten Henry made a break from the back the space was there for an Armagh counter attack as they pulled a consolation goal back just on the blow of the full time whistle. A great result after a super display and the girls celebrated in style as captain Eimear McGarrity lifted the cup.
