Juniors have a fun day at Moyola tournament

Mid Ulster took a very young U14 and even younger u12 team to the Moyola world cup event on Sunday 8 Sept.  The U12 were up against some very strong teams from Lisburn, Carnmoney and Crusaders and gave a good account of themselves.  With Sophie Magee captaining the side the team was completed by Olivia Donnelly, Aoife McKinnless, Lilie Crooks and Andrea Falls.  With the oldest of these girls being 11 and the youngest 8 it was plain to see that this is a group to look out for in the future.

The U14 team again well within the age bracket went even better starting their fixtures with a 5-0 victory against Carnmoney a Eimear McGarrity hat trick  and 2 from Casey Howe securing the victory.  Next up was a tight game against Lisburn and superb defensive work from Jessica Magee and goalkeeper Megan Ferson kept the game scoreless until late on when Lisburn scored two good goals to take the victory.  The next game followed against a strong Crusaders side and although Crues took an early lead but Casey Howe was on hand to score a superb leveller.  Mid Ulster pushed hard for a winner with Jessica Falls working hard up front but it was not to be and it was heartbreak for the girls when Crues snatched a winner. The final game of the day was against the hosts Moyola and even though it was the third game in a row for the Mid Ulster girls they did not show any signs of fatigue.  Jessica Magee pushed forward for this one and grabbed two goals with Casey Howe grabbing a further two and hitting the post twice.  To round it off Annie O'Neill in her first game for the club rounded off an excellent performance with the fifth goal of the game.

All the girls enjoyed the bouncy castles and BBQ and the U14s also managed to bag a trophy as they took top prize for the penalty competition.
