Futsal fun

Week 1 of futsal in the Shankill was good but Week 2 was even better. On week one we got to enjoy the U11s showing their skill against Crusaders with Megan Neill scoring her first two competitive goals for the Mid Ulster girls.  She was ably assisted by Lilie Crooks, Rebecca Cullen, Niamh O'Donnell, Eimear Mallon and Aoife McKinless.  The younger girls were followed up by the U13 team who after going down to an early goal against Carnmoney ran out 7-1 winners. Goals from Eimear McGarrity (3) and 2 each for Casey Howe and Jessica Magee were built on the solid defending from Sophie Magee and excellent goalkeeping by Megan Ferson.  Buns were kindly provided by Vicky.
U13 week one

U13 week one

Week 2 saw an unchanged u11 team take on Cliftonville.  The girls were superb.  Megan Neil went one better than last week scoring a hat trick and Aoife McKinless and Rebecca Cullen also weighed in with a goal apiece.  Added to this Eimear Mallon and Niamh O'Donnell shared the goal keeping duties and kept a clean sheet against a very good Cliftonville side. The U13s were missing the Magee sisters this week but were glad to welcome back Annie O'Neill and were indebted to Molly Muldoon (on loan from Dungannon) to complete the team this week.  The girls took on a strong Albert foundry team and Mid Ulster opened the scoring through Casey Howe.  AF were quick to reply and at half time the scores were level.  Mid Ulster started the second half brightly and Casey Howe was on target once again to ease Mid Ulster into the lead.  Once again AF replied instantly and the game was level once again.  In a tight game both keepers pulled off great saves with Megan Ferson getting down smartly to her right to stop a certain goal.  Inspired by this Mid Ulster pushed on and with 1 minute left to play Casey Howe produced another moment of magic to push Mid Ulster into the lead once again.  For the final minute it was all hands to the defensive wheel and AF couldn't find a way through.  The final whistle brought relief and delight to all the Mid Ulster players and supporters. Ma provided buns and Eimears sugar tastic Ricekrispie Marshmallow and white chocolate creations were delightful too.
