Busy weekend for the Mid Ulster crew.

It was a jam packed weekend for the Mid Ulster girls.  Saturday morning started early for some of the club officials as they took their mini bus test with the Rural transport organisation.  Meanwhile up in the leisure centre Ruth, Hannah and Alice put the juniors through their paces at first kicks.
Elaine and Clare left the mini bus course at lunch time to gather up the U17s for their final group stage league match v Lisburn at Lisburn omniplex.  Due to the cancellation of this game a number of times due to the weather the game was played on 3G.  The 3 G facility at Lisburn is more suited to a small sided game so it was a congested game playing at 8 a side although the conditions where the same for both teams.  A tight game saw good displays from both keepers but Mid Ulster sneaked ahead after a great strike by Chloe McCarron.  Lisburn pulled it back and just before the half Jacqueline Burns made it 2-1 with a right foot strike that Jessica Poots in the Lisburn goal couldn't keep out.  Lisburn equalised and then took the lead but Mid Ulster pushed hard and Sarah Connolly won a free kick 20 yards out.  Chloe McCarron took the strike and although there was a slight deflection she is claiming the goal to leave the scoreline 3-3 at the final whistle.
Team: Tiffany, Jill McCrea, Lyn Sommerville, Anna Donnelly, Rachael Rodgers, Jacqueline Burns, Sarah Connolly, Chloe McCarron.  This result confirmed the girls as undefeated winners of their section and they will now play Cappagh Spurs in the semi final of the league.

All the fun of the Futsal.  On Sunday the Mid Ulster girls competed in the final week of the futsal at shankill leisure centre today. The u11s lost out narrowly to Glentoran by 2-1 whilst the U13s finished off their league games with a 7-1 victory ag...ainst Foyle.  4 for Casey, 2 for Eimear and 1 for Jessica were based on solid defensive work from Annie, Sophie and Megan in goals.  The U13s then played Glentoran in the Semi final and in a very tight game they were undone by a single goal.  A disappointing end to the day but the girls can be Superbly proud of their performances over the 4 weeks.  Many thanks to the parents for transport, support and buns.  Thanks to Elaine the Junkmeister for transport, organisation and all the rest and a big thanks to Jackie Blyth from the IFA for organising the whole tournament.
