The NIWFA winter league was finally concluded on Friday 26 May at Youth Sport Omagh. Sion Swifts were the opposition and although the Mid Ulster girls started Friday with 11 players only 9 actually took to the field. To add a further challenge one of the 9 was carrying an injury so severe that she couldn't run. The girls knew it was going to be a hard slog and indeed that's what it was. Sion proved to be strong opposition and the Mid Ulster girls had to work hard to secure a breakthrough just before half time. Anna Donnelly won a corner and from Chloe McCarrons delivery the tallest player on the pitch rose to power a header into the top corner. Who was the tallest player I hear you ask... Samantha Kelly of course.

The game was end to end and Rachael Rodger, Emma McFarland and Lyn Sommerville had to work hard to protect Goalkeeper Jacqueline Burns. Jacqueline was her usual steady self and her distribution was a key factor as Erin Mullholland, Mollie Young and Anna Donnelly tried to make the breakthrough that would have calmed the nerves of the supporters on the sideline. As it was the 1-0 lead was enough to claim the victory and see Captain Chloe McCarron lift the cup. Whilst this match wasn't a classic the girls fully deserved the league victory for their performances throughout the season. Other players involved the squad over that period were Sarah Connolly, Chloe Bowden, Alexandra Lavery, Tiffany Lindsay, Rachael Kelly and Jill McCrea so congratulations to them all.
